1 of our all-time favourite posts from the Remodelista archive? A Greek Architect’s Ode to Minimalism, architect Theodore Zoumboulakis’s possess kitchen in his family’s retreat on the isle of Hydra. So we weren’t too stunned that one more job we have been admiring not too long ago is by the exact same hand: Zoumboulakis himself.
Nikolaou Home, on the Greek island of Aegina—just a person hour from Athens—was previously the dwelling and studio of the painter Nikos Nikolaou. According to the Home: “Nikolaou and his spouse Angela settled in Aegina in 1964, and their home became a common haunt for art fans and intellectuals. Renovation get the job done began in 2019, with the refurbishment of the household and grounds and the creation of five guesthouses,” overseen by Zoumboulakis Architects. “Starting from the front room—originally the painter’s to start with studio and later on his sitting down room—and centered on the photographic data and the family’s recollections, the notion was to restore the various objects and artworks in their unique spot and therefore reconstruct the ambiance in which Nikolaou lived.”
